The 2nd Criminal Division of the District Court in Wieliczka issued a ruling in a high profile case involving an inhabitant of in Cracow County who was involved in providing illegal access to the programs broadcast by pay TV platforms (“signal sharing”). In accordance with the Court’s ruling, the defendant must repair the damage caused and pay an amount of more than 1 million zloty to the victims, i.e. CANAL+ Polska and Cyfrowy Polsat. It is a record amount in the history of fight against signal sharing in Poland.

In spite of the state of epidemic, which was declared in Poland in spring, Cyfrowy Polsat Group ended the second quarter with stable results which were in line with market expectations. In spite of the declared state of epidemics in Poland, Cyfrowy Polsat Group started 2020 very well by effectively adjusting the operations of its companies to the situation caused by the epidemics and also by being involved in helping Polish healthcare institutions and Polish citizens. As regards its strategic investments, Cyfrowy Polsat Group signed a preliminary agreement for acquisition of Interia Group and also launched the first in Poland commercial 5G network.
Zygmunt Solorz and Polsat Group spent over PLN 16 million to buy 200 thousands tests confirming presence of coronavirus together with the necessary laboratory equipment. The tests will be donated to Polish citizens and provided to the Ministry of Health in order to improve the capability of testing, identifying and isolating the infected, and will be a key factor in fighting the coronavirus epidemic in Poland.
Telewizja Polsat (Polsat TV) has concluded a preliminary agreement with Bauer Media Group for the purchase of Interia Group. It is a strategic decision from the point of view of Polsat Group’s development, which will contribute to achieving its significant position on the Internet. Upon finalization of the transaction, which is contingent on Telewizja Polsat obtaining the approval from the anti-trust authority, Interia Group will become a member of Polsat Group, the biggest media-and-telecommunications group in Poland and in the region.
