Cyfrowy Polsat Group has implemented further LTE Advanced solutions. Four frequency bands have been combined in Białystok, leading to aggregation of as much as 55 MHz of spectrum, which is currently the widest data transmission channel using LTE Advanced technology that is available in Poland! Together with the 256 QAM modulation and MIMO 4x4 technology implemented in the 2600 MHz frequency band, the new solution has enabled data transfer rates of more than 600 Mbps to be achieved while downloading data in the LTE Plus Advanced commercial network. The tests were performed with the useof the latest Huawei smartphones (Mate 10 Pro, P20 and P20 Pro) and Samsung S9 while exploiting the advantages offered by the Nokia AirScale platform.

The implementation taking place in Białystok is yet another step forward in the development of LTE Plus Advanced network, while the implemented technology theoretically enables reaching data transfer rates of up to around 750 Mbps! This has been achieved thanks to carrier aggregation in four frequency bands 800 MHz, 1800 MHz, 2100 MHz and 2600 MHz, resulting in the total bandwidth of 55 MHz, as well as by employing 256 QAM modulation and MIMO 4x4 technology in the 2600 MHz frequency band. The tests which took place in Białystok while using Huawei Mate 10 Pro, Huawei P20, Huawei P20 Pro and Samsung S9 smartphones enabled achievement of data download rates of more than 600 Mbps in the LTE Plus Advanced network.

While working together with Nokia, Cyfrowy Polsat Group has embarked on a project of mass-scale upgrading of the radio network to the latest generation Nokia AirScale platform, which will enable the operator to implement 5G technology in the future. The AirScale platform supports all mobile technologies that are currently used by the Group and offers electrical power savings of up to 60%. It is also ready to support 5G data transmission standard in the future (Nokia AirScale node B’s are termed as ”5G-ready”). The scope of performed work includes hardware, software delivery as well as implementation services.
